The Promenade Bolingbrook
Sustainability - Building Smarter for the Future:
A clean and healthy environment has been a central part of The Promenade Bolingbrook's philosophy from the beginning. For The Promenade Bolingbrook, that meant building for higher energy efficiency, using a better selection of building materials, and making an ongoing commitment to water management and indoor air quality.

The Promenade Bolingbrook has been constructed to the leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Standard, and in April, 2007 the project will be granted LEED certification from the Green Building Council.

Did You Know - Sustainability Factoids:
Enough sunlight falls on the earth's surface every hour to meet the world's energy demand for an entire year.

One wind turbine can produce enough electricity to power up to 300 homes.

Running the water while brushing your teeth can waste up to 4 gallons of water a minute.

If every U.S. household replaced three 60-watt incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs it would be the equivalent of taking 3.5 million cars off the roads.

A single tree will absorb one ton of Co2 over its lifetime - plant a tree.

In 2004, Chicago residents recycled:
  • 12,000 tons of newspaper - enough to save 144,000 trees
  • 480,000 tons of plastic bottles - enough to make into 384,000 ski jackets
  • 54,857 sleeping bags, and 1,920 plastic lumber park benches
